TWO by JimCartwright - What People Are Saying
“Laura and Eamonn’s ability to play with the audiences’ emotions is second to none. For the whole time I was sitting there I felt that I was the only one in the audience due to the fact that the energy and the engagement from the stage floated down into the audience seamlessly to the extent that it actually felt natural, I was not in a theatre they took me into the pub where the play is set and I remained there through out.”
— Gary Mullen, Actor and Theatre Facilitator
“We meet their clientele over the course of the play and it's quite an array of characters. From the elderly to a young stud (at least he thinks he is!), a raunchy femme fatale to a young boy, what's really impressive is that they are played by the same two actors. Kudos to them for pulling off a range of different accents and characterisations..”

Don’t miss 'Two' by Jim Cartwright in The Pearse Centre Theatre from 11th - 15th Feb 2020
To start off Go See This Production, I might say that a few times in this post. I had the pleasure of going to see this production last night in the Pearse centre, and to say that I was astounded is an understatement. To me as an actor on stage one of the main goals is to suspend reality, in order to do that you need to be able to take the audience out of the world they have just come from and bring them into the characters world, bring them into the play and keep them there for the duration of the show, it’s not an easy thing to do but Eamonn Mc Nicholas and Laura Kelly do it so seamlessly it’s difficult to distinguish between stage and reality. The chemistry between these two actors on stage is magical. Having had the pleasure of working with these actors during their rehearsal process I was under the assumption that I would see them on stage and not the characters that they play, and boy was I mistaken.
With each actor playing multiple characters in the show I was amazed at the stamina and the professionalism they both showed not breaking any character not even for a split second, I was in awe at both of them and the multiple roles which they played to a T.
Go See This Production and bring your friends you will definitely enjoy it! The text in this piece wrote by Jim Cartwright is an amazing piece on its own but it was certainly brought to life last night on stage in front of my yes. Laura and Eamonn’s ability to play with the audiences’ emotions is second to none. For the whole time I was sitting there I felt that I was the only one in the audience due to the fact that the energy and the engagement from the stage floated down into the audience seamlessly to the extent that it actually felt natural, I was not in a theatre they took me into the pub where the play is set and I remained there through out.
Go See This Production and bring your friends, All of your friends! From the set design to the music and the lighting, it fits, it all fits together so perfectly and not to leave out the multiple costumes used through out the piece which suited the characters down to the ground, and the way the actors transitioned between the characters and the scenes if you blinked you would double check yourself it was so well timed.
I have to give a shout out to the director Romi Cruañas, and a round of applause for the amazing work that she has put into this piece and it certainly showed last night. Romi’s artistic vision in my opinion is up there with the best of them but here don’t take my word for it Go See Go See This Production and bring all your family once they are old enough to enter a pub that is.
This is a pure and perfect example of what Theatre and Acting is about and one show that will be difficult not to want to see more than once its that good.
If there is one show or piece of theatre to go see this year, I highly recommend that you go and see Na Seanchaí Production of Two by Jim Cartwright in the Pearse Centre running from
11th - 15th Feb 2020 and don’t forget Bring as many people as possible with you to enjoy it too.

Would I recommend this play? Yep! If you want to laugh, possibly cry but definitely be entertained, go along to the Pearse Centre and see Two by Jim Cartwright. It's set in a pub - not a bad start :) And we'd guess it's somewhere in northern England, judging by the accents of the landlords - a couple who bicker like Mary and John from Father Ted. Plenty of comedy value from their constant sniping, with a hint of pathos under the surface. We meet their clientele over the course of the play and it's quite an array of characters. From the elderly to a young stud (at least he thinks he is!), a raunchy femme fatale to a young boy, what's really impressive is that they are played by the same two actors. Kudos to them for pulling off a range of different accents and characterisations. You are really pulled into their world. My personal favourite was the young boy - very funny but also quite poignant - followed closely by a fairly harrowing depiction of an abusive relationship, which still somehow managed to have its comedic moments. There are some interesting directorial choices, and having a gender reversal in that abusive relationship really worked as did the use of music throughout.
When the customers finally leave and the door is bolted, our John and Mary characters finally get to have time alone. Will they resolve their differences? I'm not telling you. You'll have to go see the play to find out. And with great performances by the actors, a range of wigs that sometimes risk stealing the show (!), plenty of comedy and pathos, you won't be disappointed.
